Lovejoy ROSTA Technology
- Resilient
- Overload Proof
- Maintenance Free
- Vibration Isolating
- Corrosion-Resistant
Lovejoy ROSTA offers a complete line of multi-purpose elastomeric elements that can solve most types of tensioning, suspension, and vibration absorption problems in all fields of mechanical engineering.
All Lovejoy ROSTA products are based upon the ROSTA Principle: four elastomeric elements are inside the base of each and every tensioner, suspension unit, oscillating unit, and anti-vibration damper. The elements transmit the oscillations of a system, while simultaneously dampening vibration, shock, and noise. These product require no lubrication, are self-adjusting, and protective finished for long life.

The Lovejoy ROSTA rubber spring element compactly fulfills several functions; simultaneously serving as a torsion spring, pivot bearing, and an anti-vibration mount. Elements also work without any noise, and are maintenance-free.
The ROSTA element is a jointed spring with four pre-tensioned special rubber bodies between housings and a inner square profile offset by 45 degrees. Due to the high friction, no axial retention is necessary.
The element has no metallic contact or friction locations.
The working angle is a maximum of +/- 30 degrees.
The inertia of the natural rubber provides energy damping during turning movements as a result of the flexing friction of the rubber bodies.
Thanks to the multi-functionality of the Lovejoy ROSTA element, savings can be made in the initial investments through the avoidance of expensive bearing and damping components. The maintenance-free operation lowers operating costs through the longer service intervals. The guaranteed functionality increases the availability of installations and machinery.
All Lovejoy ROSTA elements are unaffected by mud, dirt, water, and sunlight; and they can withstand temperatures from -40° to +180°F (-40° to +80°C). Since ROSTA elements have no metal-to-metal contact, there are no parts to wear out and no lubrication is needed. Count on less maintenance, and then count the savings!
Replace your obsolete springs, dampers, and bearings with ROSTA elements and combine the best features of those alternatives without the aggravation of maintenance or the expense of periodic replacement. For example, using ROSTA elements instead of springs provides considerable lateral stability not often found in coil-spring designs. They can support tensile, compressive, and shear stresses and offer torsion angles up to + 30°. They also effectively prevent the transference of vibration and noise through the floor or base to other equipment. Similarly, ROSTA dampers are more compact, simpler in design and can be used in more applications than conventional shock absorbers. The dampening effect, caused by molecular friction (hysteresis), lies within the ideal range of 15° to 25°. The rubber suspension ensures a long life for belts, idlers and other drive components. In addition, ROSTA elements are better than ball, needle and plain bearings when used for oscillation motion, especially under high-frequency revolutions. Conventional bearings will have a drastically reduced wear life due to inadequate lubrication on these applications - but ROSTA elements require no lubrication.
Self-Adjusting and Maintenance-Free Operation - The Lovejoy ROSTA rubber spring-type design permits automatic self adjustment of belts and chains to compensate for normal stretching. Taut chains and belts mean longer life with less maintenance. Self-adjustment also protects against momentary shocks and sudden impacts. All Lovejoy ROSTA elements are also maintenance-free. They are unaffected by mud, dirt, water, and sunlight; and they can withstand temperatures from -40° to +180°F (-40° to +80°C). Since ROSTA elements have no metal-to-metal contact, there are no parts to wear out and no lubrication is needed. Count on less maintenance, and then count the savings!
